KALELİOĞLU, M., AKATA, Z. H. (ed.) (2025), Semiotics: Istanbul with Signs from Work of Art to Life. İstanbul: İdeal Kültür Yayıncılık

This study, Semiotics: İstanbul with Signs from Work of Art to Life, conducted under the leadership of the Turkish Semiotics Circle, aims to examine the city of İstanbul, an empire of signs, through various semiotic approaches in a multifaceted manner. The book brings together methodological approaches such as disaster semiotics, urban semiotics, cultural semiotics, visual semiotics, and literary semiotics from interdisciplinary perspectives. Thus, it analyzes İstanbul’s historical, social, artistic, and literary signs at different levels. This methodological diversity makes visible how the city gains meaning through signs, how these meanings are produced and reshaped within circulating social discourses. In this respect, the study aims to contribute to the understanding of İstanbul not merely as a space but as a continuously reproduced network of meanings from various angles
