Edited by Federico BELLENTANI and Massimo LEONE, this Italian-language volume (“I Saggi di Lexia” series, n. 64) explores the intersection between population aging and digital transformation through a semiotic perspective. The contributions examine the elderly face as a key interface between identity, memory, and technological mediation, addressing issues such as facial expression, AI-assisted care, intergenerational storytelling, ethics of facial recognition technologies, and representations of aging across media. The volume proposes a humanistic alternative to purely medical or technocentric approaches to aging, emphasizing interpretation, relationality, and symbolic meaning, and builds on research developed within the ERC project EUFACETS.
